Meet our cats

We have a marvellous collection of Persian and stray cats  that have chosen to stay with us at the church. Feel free to interact and be entertained by these free spirits.

Our strays

Chakie

Chakie is our oldest stray and was rescued from the Florida SPCA in 2003. As you can see from the photo, Chakie just loves bathing and when we get out she gets in. Her other vice is her early morning saucer of tea.

Tinker

Tinker was a wild cat when we found her in 2004. She welcomes each new stray into our home by catching them a bird, much to our disgust. Tinker also suffers from "ostrich syndrome" She loves playing "hide & seek" but thinks you cannot see her if she cannot see you.

Squeeler

Squeeler was bought in 2007 at a pet shop in Hillfox. He was the runt of the litter, has two different colour eyes and web toes. He was named Squeeler because he cried all the way home. Squeeler was our first little boy and just loves playing "fetch".

Icicle

Icicle was bought in 2007 at a pet shop in Westgate as a friend for Squeeler. She was the cutest baby and still loves squeezing into tight spaces and curling up into a little ball.

Indy

Indy was rescued from the Sasol plant in Secunda by our son in the winter of 2007. He was our second little boy and just loves wrapping his tail around any cat that happens to pass him. He is still fairly wild, prefers the outdoors and you can pick him up as long as you don't look directly into his cute little face.

Bicardi

Bicardi was found by our daughter on a plot in Britz in 2008. He was born with club feet and was battling to survive as the mother rejected him. Bicardi was our 3rd little boy and waddles around looking like a dragster as his front legs are a lot shorter than his back legs.

Carma

Carma was bought in 2008 via a Gumtree ad as a friend for Bicardi. She remains a fairly small cat but is a real dare devil. She loves climbing on the roof of the double storey and sneaks into the upstairs windows. Not even our biggest cat can take a treat away from her.

Angel

Angel came from a family in Sasolburg in 2009, they decided to get rid of their cats when their first child was born. Her hair was so matted when we got her we couldn't comb it out, we had to cut it off. She is a low maintenance cat and never fights about food. She will patiently wait in the line and accept the last plate.

Milla

Milla came from Sasolburg with Angel in 2009. She is a fairly small cat and just loves the sound of her own name. If you call her "Milla, Milli, Milla" she will start singing with you and then just doesn't stop. She has the cutest freckles on her nose.

Our Persians

Tatiana

Tatiana was our first persian and was bought in Boksburg in 2009. She is a very loving and jealous cat and spends most of her time sleeping on our bed like a pyjama bag. If you don't give her the attention she thinks she deserves she will sulk for a week.

Vladimir

Vladimir was our first little Persian boy and was bought in Danefern in 2009 as a friend for Tatiana. He suits her purrfictly, he is equally lackadaisical and also spends the majority of his day sleeping.

Matilda

Matilda is our oldest Persian and was bought from a Russian lady that was returning to Russia to marry her sweetheart.  Matilda is a real pre-madonna and has quite a hoarse voice for such a small cat. She can be quite demanding at times

Nike

Nike is Tatiana and Vladimir's son born Jan 2010. He has the exact same markings as his mother. The only way we could tell them apart is that she has a black nose and he has a pink one. He is the softest gentlest cat you could wish to meet.

Jimmy Choos

Tatiana and Vladimir had 5 babies. There were 4 persians and then there was Jimmy Choos. We're not asking "Who's his daddy?" We just love him to bits, he has the nature of a persian, but the looks of a stray.

Furbee

Furbee was bought from Ryn persians in 2010. She is the warmest, play fullest little thing you could wish to meet. Furbee just loves being brushed and gets into the most awkard positions with her little legs stretched out and her head tucked in so that you dont miss a spot. Hence her nick name "orangatang"

Teagan

Teagan was also bought from Ryn persians in Nigel in 2010. She is well on her way to becoming a little diva. She has such airs about her and is very demanding. She may presently be the smallest cat in the house but she definatelly thinks she rules the roost. She also has the biggest appetite of all the cats and if any one leaves a scrap in their plate, Teagan will clean it out for them.

 Sadie

Sadie was bought in Alberton in 2010 from a lady that wanted to use her as a show cat. Unfortunatelly Sadie doesn't like crowds and is very shy. She was also bred by Ryn Persians in Nigel. Once she gets to know and trust you she is very entertaining.

Katya

Katya was rescued from Evander in 2011. We were told she was a little boy and could not jump or walk properly. When we finally got all her matted hair cut off and cleaned up we discovered she was a little girl. She couldn't walk or jump because her leg hair was matted to the body hair and restricted her movements. She is so eager to please and just loves all the attention. As soon as she is well enough we will place her photo.
